Here are some of the commonly asked questions. If you can’t find the answer to your questions please contact me today. I look forward to helping you find the best steps in your healing journey.
Is therapy right for me?
If you have health issues, most likely you’ll go to a medical professional. Having difficulty overcoming life’s barriers to the life you want, therapy can have a positive long-lasting effect in addressing these obstacles. Working together, my plan to support you will be exploring and understanding your strengths and how to draw on them in order to reduce the impact of life’s current problems.
What can I expect in my first session?
During your first appointment, I will answer any additional questions that hasn’t already been answered. I will collaborate with you regarding completing the intake forms required. I will use the time to better understand you and what you are seeking from therapy in order to tailor therapy to your needs. Together, we will have the opportunity to determine if my services and therapeutic style are a good fit and will identify the next steps for moving forward.
Will sessions be confidential?
Everything discussed in sessions will be confidential with a few minor exceptions. As a mental health professional, I am a mandated reporter and will be required to report any suspected child, elder, or animal abuse, and if you pose any immediate threats of harm to yourself or others. If you sign a release of information that grants my agency permission to share records or discuss aspects of your therapy with an outside individual or organization will also be subject to disclosure. If records are subpoenaed by a judge, we can discuss legal steps moving forward.
How are sessions conducted?
Currently, I am only providing services via a confidential telehealth format. I look forward to transitioning to in-person options in the future.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Sometimes life happens unexpectedly. Especially, if you are working hard on making positive changes in your life. However, due to scheduling demands and the needs of other patients, I will need 24-hour notice prior to canceling or rescheduling your appointment to avoid being charged a cancellation fee for your session. A session will not be able to to be extended if you are late for your appointment.
What if I still have questions?
